We live in the future. We are surrounded by the words, digital technology, artificial intelligence, internet of things, and virtual reality. These are the only things that matter today(future), right? Digital technology industry seems as if it will dominate and eradicate the other industries. Actually this is not true. Because all these things we mentioned are working in devices which are mainly made of plastic and other like materials. And these materials are produced by the huge chemical industry.
International Council of Chemical Associations published a new report in March 2019 based on a study made by Oxford Economics. The report gives detailed information about the activities of the chemical industry across the globe and the economic contribution of the industry to the global economy in 2017. According to the report, the Chemical Industry’s global economic impact was significant. Its total annual contribution to global GDP was around $5.7 trillion including its direct and indirect contributions. This amount is 7.1% of the world’s GDP in 2017.
