How to Export to Greece?

In 2001, Greece changed its currency from Drachma to Euro, and in 2010, it experienced an economic contraction due to the government's debt crisis and the Global Economic Crisis. Over the last 5 years, the exports between our country and Greece have grown by 11% on an annual basis, with this growth being 9% (approximately 468 million dollars) in the category of mineral fuels and oils. One of the main reasons for this growth in exports is micro-exporting. In today’s world, many companies and individuals have started to sell abroad, leading to an increase in exports. Fluctuations in exchange rates have contributed to the emergence of micro-exports.

Considering the economic conditions, the successful method for those who want to export products to Greece is e-commerce. In the old world economy, it was quite difficult to gain customers from abroad and conduct business. Millions of dollars were spent on agencies to participate in fairs or to carry out advertising activities on your behalf. However, with the development and globalization of technology, there is no longer a need to repeat the transactions conducted in the past. By establishing a good e-export site and carrying out your digital marketing activities online, it is possible to generate higher income with lower costs.

The processes from customs clearance to preparing the site may seem complex and can intimidate people. However, efforts are being made to facilitate the situation for exporters who want to engage in foreign sales. With the existence of fast cargo companies, product shipments and customs processes are monitored under their supervision. Additionally, many corporate firms have started to successfully provide ready-made e-export site services by developing their software activities. Many sectors and individuals have benefited positively from the changes and developments in technology.

Individuals and institutions engaged in micro-exporting as part of e-export can send their shipments by cargo if they make sales. A deal can be made with a cargo company authorized to fill out the Electronic Commerce Customs Declaration (ETGB) to transfer the necessary processes. Cargo companies authorized to fill out ETGB within the scope of micro-export include UPS, PTT, TNT, and DHL.

What Documents Are Required to Export to Greece?

According to the scope of e-export, it is expected that certain documents are submitted from both our country and the country we are exporting to. The authorized cargo company requests that the seller provides all the necessary documents when an export of products occurs. These include;
● Filling out the Electronic Commerce Customs Declaration (ETGB)
● Issuing the commercial invoice for the goods
● Having 1 Certificate of Circulation
● Possessing a EUR-MED Circulation Document
● Having a cargo delivery document
● Possessing a TR Certificate of Circulation.

What Are the Export Taxes to Greece?

Individuals dealing with e-export within the framework of micro-export will be exempt from taxes on imported products that do not exceed 22 Euros for each item sent through fast cargo and postal services.. However, there is no special tax exemption application for exports to Greece. Nevertheless, Greece has started to apply a tax exemption of up to 150 Euros for exported products as the customs exemption limit. A tax rate of up to 20% is imposed on all products entering the country via export. Additionally, restrictions have been placed on products such as knives, jewelry, alcohol, mobile phones, lithium batteries, animals, and agricultural products sent to Greece. In short, the entry of these products into the country is subject to special conditions determined by the Customs Administration.

What Are the Export Procedures to Greece?

Due to the proximity of Turkey to Greece, many Turkish exporters tend to sell their products. Additionally, with the global advancement of technology, both culturally and locally, e-export platforms have risen. It is possible to consult e-export site owners who offer corporate support or for the exporter to create their own e-export site to facilitate product exports.
